Patriots/Chargers

With the conference championships fast approaching I thought I'd put my two-cents in.
The Chargers have LT and a pretty good defense with CB Antonio Cromartie being the wild card. However, despite Cromartie leading the league in picks (10) a lot of those came in multi-pick games and thus takes away from his high number of interceptions. He basically had a handful of stud games that skews the end results (7 picks in 3 games over a 6 week period). This is not to take away from his amazing season, as 3 of those picks came against one of the greatest QB's of this generation, Peyton Manning. His wild card comes into play because he did not record a single defensive stat against New England in their week 2 loss. I can't remember if he did not play or just did not do anything on defense. It could be an interesting match-up while San Diego is on defense.
That said, Bill Belichick is known for taking away what his opponents do best. Which means neutralizing LT and Antonio Gates while on defense and staying away from playmakers like Cromartie on offense. Cromartie will most likely draw the arduous task of covering Randy Moss, which has proved to be rather futile as Moss snatched a league high 23 receiving TD's*. Over the years Tom Brady has not only shown himself to be a great game manager but also a great QB. He will undoubtedly throw to Moss despite coverage and the All-Pro receiver will make the plays as he has his entire career.
There are just too many weapons around Tom Brady, who has 3 Superbowls and 2 MVP's under his belt without studs like Welker and Moss in his stable. San Diego may make it an interesting game but when it's all said and done NE will be headed to their 4th Superbowl in 7 seasons and erase all doubts about who is the greatest team of all-time.

* You'll notice I said league high and not NFL record here. While this is the most receiving TD's in and NFL season, Jerry Rice grabbed 22 in only 12 games, it took Moss 16 games to grab one more and was only at 16 TD's through week 12, well behind Rice's pace.
